These esteemed awards are currently in their eighteenth year and serve to acknowledge the successes of those working within the security industry.
William Yau, a Security Supervisor from West Bromwich, has been awarded Best use of Technology in the Midlands and David Harries a Duty Controller from Southampton has received the same award in the South Eastern round of judging.
Roberta Sasnauskaite, a Security Officer from London has been awarded ‘Service to the Customer’ in the London round of judging in recognition of her exceptional customer service skills. In the Scottish round of judging Ronnie Harkison was recognised for providing a consistently exceptional level of service for the past 26 years where he has become an integral part of Anniesland Business Park and is known and respected by every tenant on the estate.
Siobhan Meenan, a Crime Analyst from Brixworth, Northamptonshire, has been awarded ‘Best Newcomer’ in the Midlands round of judging, commended for her significant contributions to crime prevention and prosecution. A former Police Officer from Glasgow Martin Paton, now a Security Officer has been commended for the exceptional start he has made to his career in the security industry, since joining VSG and was nominated ‘Best Newcomer’ in the Scottish round of judging. Anthony Hathaway, a Security Supervisor from Witney, Oxfordshire took the award for the South East for the significant progress he has made during his nine months working in the security industry. Finally VSG’s K9 Supervisor from Newham, London, Stewart Judd was awarded ‘Best Newcomer’ in the London round of judging, for bringing the very highest level of operational skills and practices from the public sector to the private sector.
Leoni Bromfield, a Security Supervisor from Stratford, London, and Robert Gibb a Security Officer from Aberdeen have been awarded ‘Outstanding Act’ in the London and Scottish round of judging respectively. Leoni has been commended for her bravery and quick thinking which led to her saving an injured man’s life, whilst Robert received the award in recognition of his life-saving actions on two separate occasions.
In the Best Team category a VSG’s 17 strong team at the Savills New Square Shopping Centre was successful in the Midlands round of judging, recognised for their consistently high standards of performance. The team at St Enoch Shopping Centre in Glasgow won the nomination for ‘Best Team’ for the Scottish round of judging for their consistently excellent customer service and commitment to ensuring the safety of the shopping centre.
All of the regional winners will now be put forward to the national judging phase of the awards which will be announced in July.
