Eight VSG security officers were recognised in the BSIA security personnel awards last week. 12 VSG officers and teams had been recognised as regional winners. These esteemed awards are currently in their eighteenth year and serve to acknowledge the successes of those working within the security industry.
William Yau, a Security Supervisor from West Bromwich and David Harries a Duty Controller from Southampton were awarded Best use of Technology. William had designed and implemented a user friendly database that allows the team to access information instantly rather than relying on paper copies from contractor details to security incident processes and procedures as well as health and safety information. David has overseen the development and implementation of a new digital communication system, helping to ensure that the transition from the old to the new system was seamless.
Siobhan Meenan, a Crime Analyst was awarded ‘Best Newcomer’, commended for her significant contributions to crime prevention and prosecution. VSG’s K9 Supervisor from Newham, London, Stewart Judd picked up the same award for bringing the very highest level of operational skills and practices from the public sector to the private sector.
Leoni Bromfield, a Security Supervisor from Stratford, London was awarded ‘Outstanding Act’ along with Saleh Akram and Martin Hall both security officers. Leoni was commended for her bravery and quick thinking which led to her saving an injured man’s life, whilst Saleh and Martin both demonstrated exceptional bravery in preventing a suicide.
Ronnie Harkison took the Service to the Customer Award, recognised for providing a consistently exceptional level of service for the past 26 years where he has become an integral part of Anniesland Business Park and is known and respected by every tenant on the estate. Roberta Sasnauskaite, was highly commended in the same category in recognition of her exceptional customer service skills.
Congratulations to all of the winners and to all of those officers who were recognised in the regional awards. It reminds us of the great work that our security officers do every day whether it is giving great customer service, VSG is proud of such a dedicated and committed team of professionals.
